Hair Salon in Ocala, FL for Color, Cuts, Extensions & Smoothing

Most people find me because something didn't go right somewhere else. Your hair pulls gold no matter how many times it's toned. Your fine hair goes limp by noon and someone told you long hair "won't work" on you. Your curls have been cut by three different stylists and none of them got it.

I'm Donia Kitsmiller, and Hair By Donia is my hair salon in Ocala, FL. I've spent more than 20 years behind the chair, with technical training through Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchell, and Arrojo. Color, cuts, Bellami extensions, Brazilian Blowouts, and lash work all happen in one chair: mine. I work with one client at a time and I ask all the right questions before I even pick up the scissors.

Hair Extension Technician Specialized In Fine Hair

You've probably been told your hair is too fine for extensions. That's a limitation of the method, not your hair. As a hair extension technician specially trained in Bellami hair, I work with eight application methods, including Combline for fine or fragile hair, hand-tied, K-tip, I-tip, tape-in, sew-in, and clip-in. I also offer integration options, toppers, and gentler approaches for thinning tied to health changes. Method is matched to your hair and your lifestyle, never applied uniformly.

Blowouts

Blowouts

Brazilian Blowout Built To Hold Through Florida Summers

Your blowout dies in the parking lot. A brazilian blowout works differently than a styling product, using a liquid keratin formula that forms a protective layer around each strand and seals the cuticle so moisture stops swelling your hair. It suits all hair types, it's safe on colored or chemically treated hair, and results hold up to 12 weeks depending on your hair and how you maintain it. I tailor the application to withstand Florida's climate.

Hairdresser For Balayage, Grey Blending, And Color Correction

If your blonde keeps pulling brassy, your greys grab differently than the rest of your head, or your last color looked nothing like the photo, you need a hairdresser who reads your hair before mixing anything. I've spent over 20 years on balayage, highlighting, grey blending, and color correction. Color is custom mixed to your skin tone and texture, never pulled off a standard chart. Fine hair, resistant greys, and hair that's been colored over color are all regular work here.

Smoothing

Smoothing

Smoothing And Conditioning Treatments Built For Florida

You style your hair, step outside, and Ocala's humidity undoes all of it within the hour. My beauty salon services address that at the cuticle instead of layering another product on top. Keratin smoothing reduces frizz without altering your hair's underlying structure, and hydration treatments put back moisture that color, heat, and sun pull out. Private client appointments are available for anyone who needs discretion. Every service starts with a full consultation.

Eyelash Salon Work That Looks Natural

Twenty minutes of eye makeup every morning, gone by lunch in the Florida heat. My eyelash salon work is built around lashes that look like your own, mapped to your eye shape and applied one lash at a time. Careful isolation and correct weight selection are what protect your natural lashes and keep a set looking good. I also offer professional removal, so nobody has to pick at their own lash line, and hands-on training for licensed professionals.

Why Ocala Clients Book With Donia

She listens before she cuts. A stack of questions comes first — your texture, your condition, your color history, how much time you actually have in the morning. One client brought in an old photo, said "make it a Donia version of this," and got exactly that.

Clients stay for decades. Some have been in her chair for 10, 14, nearly 20 years. People who moved out of state kept flying back rather than start over with someone new. That's the part you can't fake.

She keeps training. More than 20 years in, with technical training through Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchell, and Arrojo, plus Bellami extension training and newer methods like Combline. She knows the technical side and she knows what will actually suit you.

Vivid and fantasy color done right. Every normal and abnormal color in the book, and it comes out clean every time.

Your appointment doesn't feel like an appointment. Chat, put on a podcast, or take a nap. Nobody's rushing you.

Consistent, every single time. That's the whole point.

What Happens At Your First Appointment

What Happens At Your First Appointment

What Happens At Your First Appointment.

  1. Consultation. Included inside your regular appointment — you don't need to book twice. I assess your texture, condition, color history, and lifestyle before anything gets decided. If you'd rather come in and talk first, I can set up a standalone consultation instead.

  2. A plan you agree to. What's realistic today, what needs a second session, and what it will cost you to maintain.

  3. The service. At the pace it takes to do properly.

  4. The finish and the handoff. Styled and blown out, plus the products and routine to keep it looking that way at home.

Common questions

Common questions

Common Questions

Do you take haircut-only appointments? Yes. Cuts are a large part of what I do: bobs, layers, pixies, and long shapes, cut wet or dry depending on what your hair needs. Curls I read dry, where you can see how they actually fall. Fine hair gets layered to build body rather than have weight taken out of it.

Do I need a separate consultation appointment? No. A full consultation happens inside your regular appointment. If you'd prefer to talk before committing, I can arrange a separate consultation, just mention it when you book.

How long does a Brazilian Blowout last? Up to 12 weeks, depending on your hair type and how you maintain it. The products you use at home make a real difference to how long it holds. I can help you choose.

Which extension method is right for me? We decide that at your appointment. I work in eight methods and the right one depends on your density, texture, and routine. Fine or fragile hair often does best with Combline or another lightweight option.

Can you correct color from another salon? Yes. Color correction is regular work here. Brassy tones, banding, patchy grow-out, and mismatched shades. Bring photos of what you want and we will fix it.

Is my hair too thin or too fine for extensions? Usually not. Density and hair strength determine the method, not whether extensions are possible. Lightweight methods exist specifically for fine and fragile hair.

Do you offer private or NDA appointments? Yes. If you'd rather not sit in a room with other people, or your work requires that you don't, I book private sessions where you're my only client for the length of the appointment. I'm happy to sign an NDA; bring your own or ask and I'll provide one. Nothing gets photographed or posted. Mention it when you book so I can schedule the time around it.

What should I use on my hair at home?
Sulfate-free and sodium chloride-free products only — sodium chloride in particular strips a Brazilian Blowout early and dulls color. I point clients to the Hairstory line and I'll tell you which products your hair needs before you leave.
